Orange and orange, which name came first, the fruit or the color?

one of life's unsolved mysteries. i wonder if the fruit and color are different words in other languages...

Orange and orange, which name came first, the fruit or the color?
I think the color was named after the fruit - because how would they name a color without having a source/reason for naming it that? They obviously got the color orange from oranges so they just called it orange as well.
