Why does everybody call Saddam Hussein by his first name?

Whilst Tony Blair and George Bush are called by their surname...

Why does everybody call Saddam Hussein by his first name?
There is too many people with the second name Hussein, so i guess people could get confused. Also, i think it's part of a physchogical thing. If you call someone famous by their first name then u r demoting them to someone very low and not worthy of their name.
Reply:Because there aren't that many Saddam's in the western world. There are an assload of Tony's and George's.
Reply:because the other names are vaguely distinctive, but Hussein is so commonplace it would be confusing
Reply:Because they don't want to confuse him with the Senator from Illinois, Mr B.Hussein Obama
Reply:Was it because there was already a King Hussein of Jordan and they didn't want to mix them up? If not then I'm stumped????
Reply:To distinguish him from King Abdullah Hussein of Jordan, who is a US ally.
Reply:I dont. I refer to him as, So Damn Insane
Reply:I always use his full name.
Reply:In Arab culture, men are better known by their first name and patronym.
Reply:Tongue in cheek answer here:

It is to prevent confusion. If he were called Hussein, those on the left would think you were referring to Barack Obama's middle name.
Reply:i call saddam, by spelling his name backwards
Reply:isn't that what you suppose to do with your friends.
Reply:Are you certain that Saddam is his first name? I'm not.
Reply:'Cause he's got a cool first name. You're just mad cause your parents named you something stupid.
