I had my first interview with immigration The officer said I have to wait the FBI to clean my name?

The officer told me that my name has not been clean yet. I was wondering how long it will take for the FBI to clean my name.

Usually no more than thirty days, unless you have lived in several states, then it takes much longer. And if you have a very common name it adds to the delay a bit.

Ten months is a short time for a spousal petition. Usually takes a year and a half no matter where your spouse comes from. A fiance petition is much faster. So if you complain complain after a 'short' time the INS can sit on your petition for years, in revenge.
Reply:When the immigration officer told you that they were waiting for the FBI clearance, he was "blowing smoke". They told my wife the same thing. But, when I went to my Congressman it seems the FBI report just happened to arrive the same day. If you are married to a US citizen they can complain for you, otherwise, you'll just have to wait out the backlog.
Reply:I have had petitions in for now 10 months for my egyptian husband. We both have served in the military he in Egypt me USArmy . My son now serving his tenth year in the USAF and we we were told Dec 12. That we are in background checks and not to call again until June 11. It is ridiculous. I agree with the answer given by another call your representative. I leave for the USA next wednesday after being in Egypt for six months thinking he would get to go with me. No approval no denials just excuses they are back logged. Now background checks are taking six months. I am going to my congressman

I wish you luck
Reply:who knows. just wait if you are doing the right thing you will come out ok
